Ill Nicky ft. Jared Anthony, Cheeba Hawk & BangerOfTheDay - Photograph
Both Ill Nicky & Jared Anthony have been having an all hits, no misses kind of 2020. It seems like everything they drop, both individually and together, is better than the project previous. And their new song together, 'Photograph', is no different.
WIth a hook that brings you in and then verses that pack a punch, this song is one that you will have in rotation for months to come. It has a power to it that reminds me of Post Malone, not to mention the appeal is on par with him as well. I repeat, if you're not currently listening to these 2 artists, hop on now before they go mainstream here in the next couple years.
Lyrics That Stick:
"Thinking 'bout the times we had
Memories shatter like they're glass
Looking at a photograph"
Gavin Haley & Yung Pinch - Tati
An unlikely duo, but a powerful one, Gavin Haley & Yung Pinch have given us one of the catchiest songs I've heard in a long time. With a hard hitting kick / snare combo that makes you want to dance, and Haley's vocals over it, it's a song that will be stuck in your head for a while.
'Tati', whoever she is, has to be feeling pretty good about herself at this point. Haley comes from a very vulnerable place in confessing his love for her and even going so far as to name the song after her. Yung Pinch just has one verse, but does what he's asked to in bringing variety and power to the track, building it up into the anthem that it is. Take a listen, but expect to be singing the hook for weeks and weeks.
Lyrics That Stick:
"There's this girl, called Tati
I love the way she move in the nighttime"
Sig Roy - Afterparties
It's amazing how differently you can come out of different relationships. Sometimes it can feel like a breath of fresh air, sometimes it hurts but you feel it's for better, and then sometimes you come out feeling like Sig Roy in his new track.
'Afterparties' is an emotion-filled, passionate goodbye to an ex, in a break up that sounds like it came way too soon. The emotion portrayed by Roy is very apparent, both in the tone of his voice and the lyrics. The songwriting is also amazing, the verses and choruses building into each other as the story continues to unfold. Go listen to 'Afterparties', and don't worry, it's okay to cry.
Lyrics That Stick:
"I can't help to hide my face like to be honest I'm a mess
Been a minute since we kicked it, can't believe now I'm your ex."
The Kid LAROI - Addison Rae
The Kid LAROIDrakeSki Mask the Slump God.Addison Rae. to has already made a name for himself. One look at his Instagram will show him lined up with some of the biggest names in hip hop, from But in his new song, it sounds like he's set his sights on a celebrity girlfriend as well. Specifically,
The song shows LAROI doing his usual: soaring with melodies and fast hitting hi hats. And per his usual, it's a banger. It's one that you'll hear in LA clubs, one to play with your friends, but also one that you can just enjoy by yourself, as he keeps it real through his verses talking about some of his past girls. It's original, real, and one that you need to have in rotation.
Lyrics That Stick:
"Shawty a savage, shawty don't play
Addison Rae"
The Holdup - Cool Spot
Please, don't try and ruin our 'Cool Spot!' The Holdup just has that niche about them that we can't help but, dare we say... fangirl over? They're Cool and alluring all by themselves and this song definitely proves that statement true! This is the ultimate Summer Jam you're going to have on, on all the hot beach days ahead of you this year!
There's a joyous and tranquil state that we all contain when we just feel so mellow and chill, as if no one can change this nonchalant state. The Holdup has called this state of emotion the 'Cool Spot' and they refuse to engage in anything or anyone that tries to challenge that. Trust us when we say this melody will have you in such a relaxed manner and focusing on achieving that inner 'Cool Spot' of yours as well!
Lyrics That Stick:
"I don't watch no news
Never try to engage fools
I don't try to break no rules
Get too hot."
J-Wright & Dylan Reese - Immortal
Legends never die. For some of us it's a saying, but for creatives, it's a goal; to create something that will last even when the creator is gone. In their new track, J-Wright & Dylan Reese bring more life to the saying and turn it into an anthem.
Both of these artists run the claim that they have already reached this point, and I feel no reason to argue after hearing this track. It's a beautifully written song, one that I could very well see Adam Levine on the hook and Jay-Z on the verses. But instead, it's two young legends, fighting to become immortal.
Lyrics That Stick:
"I guess I'll trade that all to be immortal
I can't take a loss cause I'm immortal"
Noah North - U
Close your eyes and you're on a tropical island. Open them up and you'll realize that you're not, but with this new track from Noah North, you can still feel like you are.
This track blends the classic island feel with a reggaeton drum pattern, and the result is amazing. It's one of the most vibe-filled tracks that I've heard in forever, with the mixture of the instrumental and North's voice blending perfectly in a melodic hit. This is one that you'll be listening all the way through the summer!
Lyrics That Stick:
"Something about you, you, you
The way that you move, move, move"
Jared Anthony - Good-For-Nothing (EP)
After a strong lead single with 'Bloody Sneakers', Jared Anthony has followed it up with an equally impressive project to put it on, 'Good-For-Nothing.' Consistent with his catchy hooks melodic flows, the project does nothing if not build onto the name that he has already begun to make for himself.
While the backbone of his music is in the melodies, Anthony as well, is no stranger to meaning in his lyrics. My favorite track has to be 'Stolen', a song detailing his love and longing for a girl who has left him behind. The pain is detailed in not only the lyrics but can be noted in his voice, a mark of a true artist. The EP is 5 songs deep, and all 5 truly are bangers.
Lyrics That Stick:
"I told you that this love cannot be stolen
I see it in your eyes"
BabyJake - Confidant (Music Video)
Sometimes you just need that 'Confidant,' to keep you secrets a secret, and allow you to vent. And sometimes you really don't want to be ANYONE's confidant! BabyJake's latest music video surrounds that topic, with it's groovy and 70's throwback theme!
The storyline starts off with a hip, skater looking couple walking what looks like the streets of LA. There's this vibrant and carefree aura in the video that gives you that nostalgic feeling even if you weren't around during that time. You see this look of either regret or longing on the girls face and you know from that point forward this story is going to take you on a whirlwind of a ride back in time.
The chorus hits and we realized the 'Confidant' meaning in this song refers to BabyJake telling the girl he's with that she honestly shouldn't be telling him the things she is, because DAMN B, he's not your only 'Confidant!'
It then panes to the couple having an argument over the one and the next thing we see is a scene of the dude walking in on his girl in bed with another man (who happen to be BabyJake) while she gets up and kisses him real quick. Well, that just goes to show, you can't trust no hoe. Take a look and a listen to BabyJake's 'Confidant' it's as Far Out as it gets!
Lyrics That Stick:
"Don't hit my phone late at night
Don't hit me up more than twice
I'm not your friend
Not your only Confidant."
Zeegs, Preston Pablo & SauceOnly - Danger In Your Eyes
'Danger In Your Eyes' opens up with a steady kick and a repeating synth that makes you feel like you are in a club listening to the popular music of today. Instead, it's an up and comer that just makes that high quality of music.
My favorite part is that not only does it have the mass appeal of a radio song, but the lyrics still have meaning. They tell of a dangerous love, one that you know will turn out bad, but one that you have to try. Add in the power of Preston Pablo and SauceOnly to back up Zeegs, and it's a dream team. If you haven't yet, go check out their new single right now.
Lyrics That Stick:
"If this thing has to end
Would you do it again?"
44phantom - Bittersweet (Album Review)
This right here is a very special project. 6 tracks deep, and every one with a different meaning and feeling attached to it. I listened to it time and time again, trying to pick a favorite to highlight, but every time I listened through, a different song would stick out to me.
So, I recommend you listen all the way through, and then do it again, and then do it again. On some songs I felt like 44phantom sounded like a sad Justin Bieber, but there were just glimpses of that before his originality would shine through once again and he would just sound like himself. Real, raw, and very, very talented. Now's your chance to say you knew him before he got big. Go download 'Bittersweet' and be ahead of the crowd.
Lyrics That Stick:
"You're cold as stone, I can see it in your face
I wish you hated me, cause at least you'd feel something"
Ryan Oakes - Do Or Die
Blending or switching genres can be a risky move for an emerging artist to make, but Ryan Oakes has turned this into his forte. Blending the lines between rap and Emo punk is nothing new for him, but he might be at his peak with his new single, 'Do Or Die.'
It's a song featuring witty verses rapped over a guitar instrumental with fast hitting hi hats and kicks, which then switches to a chorus screamed by Ryan Oakes himself. Ladies, find you a man who can do both. And men, do yourself a favor, hop on the bandwagon early and check out Ryan Oakes music.
Lyrics that stick:
“Heard you run your mouth if you’re feeling brave
Come and dig your grave”
Alina Baraz - Morocco (ft. 6LACK)
With a virus taking over the world and traveling becoming harder and harder every day, sometimes the best you can do is close your eyes and allow the music to take you places. With her new song featuring 6lack, Alina Baraz accomplishes just that.
Through a mixture of smooth vocals and appealing production, 'Morocco' really can help you feel like life is better in its' 2 minutes and 24 second time frame. Life is easier, when you're with somebody you love, and there is no need to leave anytime soon. Alina says it better than I can put it, 'You take me to another time zone, without ever even leaving my door."
Lyrics That Stick:
"Steady riding to another life though,
Oh, I look up and we're in Morocco"
diveliner - I Can’t Sleep (Album)
diveliner obviously has a lot to say. From broken-hearted love songs to brutally honest self reflection, not a track is lacking in meaning. A new single from an artist can be released for many reasons: to remain consistent, maintain relevance, build excitement for an upcoming project, or one of a thousand other reasons. But when an artist releases an album, more often than not it's because they have something to say, and have found the right way to say it. On his new album 'I Can't Sleep',
The closest comparison I can draw to diveliner's unique style is none other than the king of sad pop himself, Post Malone. But, while Post Malone tends to have a more in-your-face style, diveliner has a sort of subtlety that makes it so if you don't pay attention to what's being said, you're sure to miss something deep and meaningful. My personal favorite is 'Closer', a track about a broken relationship and his path to finding closure. But really, 'I Can't Sleep' is an album with no misses. Filled with heartfelt bangers and passionate ballads, this album undoubtedly has something for everybody.
Lyrics That Stick:
"Closer to living right,
Hell on earth is paradise"
Alec Chambers - Cold
Are you feeling cold? Have you lost touch of the things around you? Well Here's Alec Chambers with his first single of the new decade 'Cold!' This song really seems to bring the old memories back, good one's even some bad one's, but we are who we are all we can do is grow from those bad one's.
"Sitting here at 2 AM" Oh how fitting, it's about 2 am when we we're writing this what a coincidence! We're loving the uplifting instrumental to fit Alec Chamber's super unique voice, one of a kind without a doubt! Can't get this one out our heads, and we know you can't either! So stop what you're doing, and go stream 'Cold,' by Alec Chamber's! WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING HERE? It's worth the listen I promise you!
Lyrics That Stick:
"It's too late to take you home
I don't wanna fake it anymore."
