As an artist, it should be your goal to leave the industry better than you found it. Whether it’s what you bring musically or personally, transcendence and immortality should be in the forefront. We are only here for a short time, so we should all aim to bring genuine energy to propel the good in all of us. As a blogger, I’m always searching for artists that want to keep the purity of their musical craft and bring people back to the reason they stop their lives and listen. For me, rising singer-songwriter, Maeta, has emerged as one of my favorite artists at the moment. After hooking me in with her single “Teen Scene”, I have seen Maeta grow in all facets of her artistry. Now, the Roc Nation signee blesses our pages with her latest album “When I Hear Your Name”.
“When I Hear Your Name” is Maeta’s second album, and I can see how she has gained maturity lyrically, sonically, and vocally. The album is a 13-track masterpiece that discusses her need to find balance and refrain from neglecting herself for someone else. Maeta came correct with her latest album and made sure to give the fans what they wanted with collaborations with Lucky Daye, Free Nationals, Ty Dolla $ign, James Fauntleroy, & Ambre. In addition, the album has production from OG Parker, The-Dream, Charlotte Day Wilson, DJ Dahi, Louie Lastic, Oak Felder, KAYTRANADA, & more. (Additional Co-Writes: The-Dream, Freddie Mercury, Kehlani, Demi Lovato, Ant Clemons, Elijah Blake, Fallon King, & more)
As a Pisces sun she romanticizes a lot of things, but she is heading into a place where she is more logical & realistic. Overall, the album is the soundtrack to hopeless romantics and Maeta proves that R&B is alive & well.
