21 Savage, Metro Boomin - Savage Mode II

As soon as I heard Morgan Freeman’s voice on the introduction to Savage Mode II, I knew we were in for a treat with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s latest collaborative album. His voice throughout the album calls on us to reflect as tracks transition smoothly into each other. Savage Mode II is fifteen tracks of catharsis for 21 Savage’s fans, who haven’t heard an album from the young startup since 2018’s i am > i was.
“Runnin,” “My Dawg,” and the track’s closer “Said N Done” are all incredibly strong tracks, carried entirely by 21 Savages’s unique, polarizing flow. No stranger to controversy, 21 Savage shows us that he’s still able to tap into his personal side. Darker tracks like “No Opp Left Behind" and “Glock In My Lap” remind us why the star rose up in the first place.
Savage Mode II is a resounding album from 21 Savage, and it’s been a long time in the making. From features to featureless tracks, Savage maintains his groove and his ability to tune in creatively with Metro Boomin, who brings it on every single track. I can’t wait to see the movie that gets made out of this album.
Lyrics That Stick:
“Ain't no cap in my rap, ain't no flaw
You could tell it when I rap, ain't no cut, this shit raw
Cut him off if he talkin' to the law
I'm with Draco 'cause he quiet 'til he hit you in the jaw”
