Julia Kahn Dances With Darkness And Finds The Light In Debut EP, “Heroine’s Journey”

Hailing from Nashville, TN, emerging singer-songwriter, Julia Kahn, has been gaining a lot of traction with her introspective and captivating sound. Drawing inspiration from various genres, she has an innate ability to craft electro-pop hits that allow her to shine vocally. Now, she debuts on our pages with her flawless EP “Heroine’s Journey”, and it is one of the best projects we have heard all year.
On her debut EP, Kahn takes the listeners into her own world with her distinct sonics, catchy songwriting, and her exceptional vocal performances. Although this is my introduction to the emerging singer, this was a great first impression. Throughout the project, Kahn contemplates the idea of grappling with the dark phases in life as a necessity to find the light- a mentality shift in today’s world we could all use. The project truly comes from a place of internal awareness, and it serves as an ethereal journey into one’s soul. Both sonically and thematically, it begins in darkness and ends with a newfound light that listeners discover as they are guided through its epic impact. As the EP progresses, Kahn’s intentional combination of uninhibited lyrics with R&B, electronic production will leave one feeling otherworldly. Her harmonies and lyrical structure against distorted fx and production further reveal the project’s ethos and meaningful juxtaposition. The key take away: “We cannot find light within ourselves without first learning to dance with darkness. We cannot help this world without first learning to love ourselves.”
Following the momentum of singles and video releases, live shows and festival appearances this year, Kahn is here to stay, and this project only proves how talented she is. With that being said, stream the EP below and vibe out.
