Over the last year and a half, we have seen rising Bay Area rapper, 24kGoldn, rise to fame with his intoxicating music. Whether it was a song like ‘Dropped Out Of College’ or ‘Mood’, the 20-year-old star always finds a way to bring timeless music to our ear waves. After a couple of Billboard charting singles that feature DaBaby and Iann Dior, 24kGoldn is back with his debut album ‘El Dorado’. The album shows 24kGoldn’s versatility and maturity as an artist. In addition, the mood and soundscape of the album can be sunny but it also explores his fight to make relationships with his signficant others work.
On the first listen, the stand out songs for me have to be ‘Empty’, ‘Love Or Lust’, and ‘The Top’. ‘Love Or Lust’ is a smooth guitar-driven record that has a hook that will keep you hooked from start to finish. His cadences and ability to swith flows are on full effect and this record is going to be perfect for the summer. ‘Empty’ is probably my favorite from the album, and it has a very Post Malone type feel to it. It’s moody and the feature from Swae Lee only makes it better. ‘The Top’ is another standout and it has that pop engineered production that 24kGoldn is known for. The record is fun and it packs a groove that will have you hooked. Overall, the album is very commercial, and it can be played just about anywhere. Truthfully, there is a song for everyone. With that being said, go stream the album now!
Favorite Song: Empty
Lyrics That Stick:
”Ain't been the same since you left me
Can’t feel no pain, only empty
Fake love feel good 'til it's over
How we turn from lovers to loners?”
