Have you ever listened to an artist that gave you goosebumps? If so, what made them connect with you in that way? Although this feeling can be rare, artists that push the boundaries of sound have always made me feel like this. There is nothing more satisfying than hearing an artist become vulnerable for the sake of art. Whether they are pushing sonic boundaries or writing exceptional songs, the idea of pushing their art to the limits is what I praise. That is what they are here to do. Over the years, it feels like a lot of music lacks the rawness, vulnerability, and relatability of past generations. However, I recently came across an artist that deserves your attention, and his name is Benzly.

Hailing from Tampa, FL, Benzly is a Haitian American artist that is known for his ability to craft infectious hits. He is raw, captivating, and he is versatile. Now, he enters our pages with his latest body of work “MANIPURA”. “MANIPURA” takes listeners on a sonic journey where we hear Benzly experiment with different shades of Hip-Hop, R&B, & Soul. This album is daring, and it puts his exceptional storytelling and vocals on full display.

Over the 11-track album, Benzly shows flashes of greatness. My favorite songs from the project were “STAY” & “PAIN (feat. Benji)”. “STAY” is a vibey record that transports you to Miami. The record is dynamic, and it is laced with lush melodies, engaging guitars, and the sonic progression is otherworldly. In addition, the hook is intoxicating. “PAIN” features Benzly’s rapping ability and lyrical prowess. The song is direct and Benji’s verse was the cherry on top. If you are looking for an engaging album that’s about finding your personal confidence, then look no further. The album explores themes of self-acceptance, growth, pain, & triumph. This may be the album of the year so stream it below!
