The only thing you can expect from a Belaganas song is that it will be unexpected. So you can imagine our high (un)expectations when we see they released their new EP, ‘Speak Easy.’ Of all the genre-bending and style-meshing, one thing is for certain when it comes to these guys; be ready to be impressed.

The first song is filled with samples, cuts, and boom-bap type vibes. Bar after bar, it sets the tone for the 3-song EP in a major way. You may listen to this song and think, “sweet, a boom-bap EP,” in which case you’d be wrong. The second song hits you from the beginning with 2000’s alternative rock instrumentation, bringing a whole different, yet somehow concise sound to the project. As for the third song, we won’t even try to explain that cinematic masterpiece. Just listen to it and you’ll understand.

There aren’t too many artists or bands able to step into so many different styles and maintain such a high level, multifaceted sound. We truly believe Belaganas could be the next big thing, so you better watch out for them!

Favorite Song: Vanity

Lyrics That Stick:

“Nothing could be done to help me

I’m just trynna find my way

With my eyes closed”
